I want to keep my thoughts on it a bit mum here and I'll explain why.
But what does everyone think of it?
Because frankly, I think I'm enjoying a manga for the first time in a long time since I stopped reading them.
Thoughts on Witch Hat Atelier?
I'm on Chapter 34.
I hope it gets an anime.
I love Witch Hat Atelier and I’m glad I’m not the only one. I think it’s a great story and the way magic is conceptualized is very unique and intuitive to me. The politics surrounding the story is also so intriguing and mysterious, since it is yet to be revealed (the brim hats?! Fucking wild). The art style is also refreshing as it’s quite different compared to a lot of mainstream anime/manga. I follow the author on twitter and seeing her ink the pages is so mesmerizing but also shows how much work goes into each drawing.
Every volume that is released keeps me on my toes. Right now I am fully caught up in the physical volumes, and have pre-ordered the next one which comes out next year. Also, I believe I saw on twitter that it is getting an anime adaptation which is very exciting, I would love to see its art style in motion.
In conclusion, the kids are the sweetest and deserve the world; I hope Qifrey and Olruggio kiss.
The author's a she?
Nice.
There don't seem to be enough female mangaka, at least, those that are popular.
Also, I love Qifrey and Orugio.
I hope that there's a colored version so I can read it again.
Also, I love the characters.
But it never feels like the plot is sacrificed for the plot.
Like, the plot and narrative is good.
And it's not just "character-focused."
It's "everything-focused." Everything is on point and complements each other.
It probably one of the best stories I have ever read, it’s tied with Hunter X Hunter for me. I love how well balanced it is in terms of beauty, wholesomeness, and horror. Of course, it’s not a horror manga but it depicts brutality in such a way that is almost captivating and purposeful. Yeah, I think “purposeful” explains it perfectly because it all ties together: even something small is meaningful in a big way. It’s just very refreshing to me too.
Yeah, I'm enjoying it immensely.
