"Reddit didn’t immediately reply to a request for comment. According to Reddit spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt, “We’ll no longer comment on hearsay, unsubstantiated claims, or baseless accusations from The Verge. We’ll be in touch as corrections are needed.”"

I re-opened r/snackexchange as soon as I was given the threat to. Made it a user democracy as Spez said he wanted to expand. It took 5 days for reddit to mod coup the subreddit and hand it to a scab who has never moderated anything before while I was staying completely within the acceptable lane reddit demanded. The admin lied throughout the mod message and made this goober the top mod over others who've been moderating for years and who did the actual work/coded the bots we use.

That process is going to keep repeating and it will only get funnier as it reaches the larger subreddits. They gave it to a completely arbitrary person who had just voted themselves to be a mod the day prior, tacking it onto an omnibus bill for a set of rules so people couldn't not vote for it if they wanted the subreddit to have any rules. When that's an ideologically contested subreddit instead, it's going to be r/Antiwork's implosion multiplied.
