I don't think people have to be dumb to do dumb things, and what had me inferring that you were driving was the comment you made on your post. Years back before I reined it in, I did several way dumber things than text in response to drivers like that. Everyone I know tells each other to be safe and not text any time one of them implies that they may have been doing it, so it was only intended as a habitual "You're cool, make sure not to die" care message
