Folks, this is an outrage.
I feel like the point of this isn’t to eliminate “AI” Generated text outright but rather removing the possibility of lawyers dodging liability by claiming something was written by the program and not themselves. Basically, if it’s in the filing, you own it.
An attorney submitted ChatGPT answers as case filings a month ago, they definitely want to remove any question of liability for what lawyers submit
I don't disagree. But I've got a few lawyer friends who have just dumped "Write me an appellate brief for X" into the prompt and then dropped in the high notes to what amounts to a form letter. Huge time saver, given how many of these documents are 90% interchangeable anyway.
