Hello everyone, I am posting on this community to solicit advice on avoiding heat stroke while not looking like a fool. Currently I own several 95% polyester 5% spandex short-sleeve button-ups as well as one 100% linen long-sleeve button-up. I find both to be quite suitable for hot weather, but would love suggestions that aren't T-shirts and button-ups. Additionally, what options are there for summer pants? And what actually looks good with shorts? When I wear them I look like a camp councilor - or worse, a kid attending summer camp. 
Feel free to discuss dresses and skirts as well, although I am personally not interested. Oh yes, and I suppose summer hats could be useful too. Thank you in advance.
People who live in extremely hot climates have spoken - Run around naked, or wear big flowy white robes. there are no other options.
Big flowy black robes, though.
Or colourful robes, kanga or alike.
Unfortunately I am American and very self-conscious so I'm forced to wear poorly adapted Euro clothes
Good summer pants: linen, seersucker.
Idk, basically anything you're gonna be wearing in summer goes with shorts. I frequently wear linen or chino shorts with seersucker or linen button ups, looks good.
Linen is the best fabric for hot weather. It holds a great deal more water by weight that cotton, meaning you can sweat a lot more before the material becomes saturated and can't pull more sweat away from your skin. It wicks moisture and breathes much better than cotton, meaning it pulls water in and allows water to evaporate much faster. The result is that you stay cool and dry. It's not as soft as cotton but I find the texture more pleasant, and at any rate if you don't have any issues with it then you'll get used to the differing texture in a day or two.
This effect of linen works well if it is flowy, cuts that are very cloth to your skin mean there is not enough air moving around, this is why some tight linen suits don't feel as nice as the comfy flowy alternatives in high heat.
Also many linen suits are lined, sometimes even with poly, which makes them worse than useless compared to a light wool/silk lined suit
long sleeve breathable buttonups are a must have if you are in the Hot for any extended period of time. what looks good with them are but are not limited to: everything
short shorts with oversized buttonup: hot
well fit pants and fit buttonup: also hot
Cotton is fine compared to artificial stuff. just go for looser weaves. Honestly if you're wearing natural fabric, weight of thread and tightness of weave are most important.
My linen shirt was quite difficult to find and it's why I only have one. I found it very difficult to find something that is linen and feels good.
Floral patterns, colours and comfy cloth are good. Cringe is often only societal pressure by people who are not confident enough in accepting people in ways they are comfy.
I live in a modestly humid climate where temps above 45C are not unheard of and a week above 40C happens once every couple of years. I have a bit of a cottagecore vibe too so my clothing recs tend to loose and slightly formal in summer, but a maxi-dress is out so...
Do not wear the artificial fabrics above 30C. Cotton is fine until wet (and sometimes the temp can plummet below 20 in the evening and it'll feel like -5C, so you don't want that.) In the unlikely event you find a true summerweight wool (like, thin enough to make a peasant blouse out of), it's even better than linen. Linen pants are good for masc types, and in resort wear you can commit to the loose split skirt/culotte style. Try linen waistcoats without shirts or with very thin sheer shirts. Loose cotton short robes/jackets as wellKeep clothing loose and long because the sun is not your friend. Short shorts are in for mascs but in truly hot weather they're not great.
Straw hats only, for men you might be limited to the dreaded fedora, but honestly if you can pull it off a wide brimmed fem hat looks good.
i pretty much only wear either fringey tight black jean shorts or ripped tight grey jean shorts in the summer pants wise. I tried for many years to embrace chino shorts but i think they almost always look preppy. so im livin the jorts life now and LOVIN it
Fitted shorts and t-shirts, or a masculine tank top (called a wife beater for some reason). But that is for an informal masculine look, not sure if that's what you want.
For shorts with regards to a more masculine look, the fit and length is very important, too short and you look like you found your dad's old basketball shorts, too long and it looks like oversized kids clothes. It also needs to hug the thighs well, but not be too tight. That's just uncomfortable and not a great look. But then again, that's just what I find looks good. You might not even want or need this advice if that's not what you're going for.
Oh and lots of sunscreen.
There are "sun hoodies" now by a few different brands that are upf rated. They're great for walking and hiking
You're gonna want prana Brion pants they look like chinos but are in fact woven of the golden fleece itself.
