Making it look like you're logged out in that case is intentional. If you navigate from another site to Hexbear, Lemmy does an "anti-brigading" thing where you're not logged in on that one tab, even if you logged in from another tab immediately before. You can get around this by either
Copying the tab's URL and loading it into a new tab, or
In Firefox, go to about:config and change network.http.sendRefererHeader from 2 to 0 (which breaks some other sites)
Every Lemmy instance does this on the latest Lemmy version.
