Bearing in mind that Putin is himself a reactionary anticommunist, the projects that the Russian state engages in should be examined critically as ways that the semi/periphery can better position themselves against antagonism by core countries with the caveat that these relationships can also potentially be used to undermine popular people's struggles i.e. Wagner mercs being invited to assist against principled uprisings.
