It's literally one design priniciple developed or rather discovered by Camillo Sitte in bis work on urban design and especially urban plazas. I'd tell you to read theory but I don't know how hostile we're allowed to be after federation

You're absolutely right about this abomination. It is hilarious though, the real atrocity are cars in a city center
that doesn't mean the concentric brick pattern should be misaligned with the flower garden though
