I think a lot of people do it as their community grows because otherwise people will make them without the streamer's involvement. Next thing you know the mods were secret Hitlers and now everyone associates the "Streamer X Discord" with horrible stuff the streamer isn't even aware of but has to deal with anyway. Better to get in front of it.
Literally every streamer has one too lol. You'd think it was a legal requirement. Streamers with like 10 regular viewers will have a discord.
