It's default lemmy (at least for version 0.18.X, AFAIK) to have that same emoji picker ... mine just doesn't have any of the custom emojis you have ... but adding them is a thing I think for default lemmy, just not sure.
Custom emojis are supported in regular lemmy. However, it's up to the admins of your instance to make some available. If the admins don't add any, the emoji picker just has boring normal emojis.
Gotta say ... I'm loving the hexbear culture/habit of speaking meme/custom-emoji all the time.
How is it working exactly ... is it all the custom-emoji facility that lemmy (apparently) has or is it something custom hexbear are running?
Hexbear's custom frontend has an emoji picker. All it actually does is insert a link to an image in the comment for you
