It's been a while since I have read any comic books. Been wanting to read one.
I am not an avid comic book reader. I would say capeshit is discouraged but feel free to recommend it if you want. I will leave it at your discretion. Any genre is fine except horror. Need something that has finished the run or at least has a good number of issues out so I can binge.
These are the ones I have read so far to give you an idea. But recommendations do not have to conform this list:
- Transformers: More Than Meets the Eyes is my favourite because of the heartfelt characters and great humour
- The Sandman. It's a classic and I liked it.
- East of West. I thought it was interesting but it didn't quite grab me.
- The 12 issue run of Mister Miracle. I thought what there was of it was good but it wasn't meaty enough IMO.
- Jeff Lemire run of Moon Knight. This was good.
- Saga. I read it until the hiatus. Liked it.
It's a bit late to reply, but I recommend Corto Maltese. first serialized in a children's comic magazine controlled by the French Communist Party. The artist's position is not very obvious, he worked for communist magazines as well as being a Freemason.
Monstress is good.
Watchmen is a classic.
I'm not sure why but I enjoyed the Prophet reboot.
Anything by Moebius will at least be visually gorgeous (like Arch).
There is a Marx and Engels Manga. I haven't read it so maybe you can and then give a review!
I've read both monstress (what was published of it at the time) and watchmen but it was a long time ago. I was a lot more illiterate back then so it could be worth revisiting them.
I remember The Immortal Hulk being pretty good, ending aside
It's good but I find it overrated. The part where he takes on a corporation is great. But then it goes the way of Final Fantasy 7 Remake and starts dealing with cosmic level threats at which point the class character collapses.
I found this was pretty fun https://www.twistedcomics.co.uk/product/the-theory/
