"Just say you did it or we'll kill you" after years of torture so there doesn't have to be a trial. Great work convincing us you got the right guys.
Among other things they must feel at least a little professional pride. Most people aren't lucky enough to both make a big splash in the world and see it's effects in their lifetime. If I was in court and I knew I was the roundabout reason everyone in the building had to take off their shoes to get in, I might chuckle
