The app just had a major re-release and works better than ever before. There are no ads whatsoever, you can import your existing subscriptions, and you don't have to worry about google doing any ridiculous fash pipeline shit.

Alternatively, if you prefer a web browser, there is always invidious.

    Thanks, this sounds cool! I'd also recommend NewPipe for android (from fdroid), no ads and it lets you download video/audio.

      Newpipe stopped working for downloading for me so now I use YouTube Vanced which is just the normal ui except no ads and more customisable, and youtubemp4.to for video/audio download, it's pretty good but if anyone knows a better downloading website that's ad-free I'd appreciate it

    Been using FreeTube since invidious main instance went kaboom, and it's really clean and smooth. Plus it supports 1080p playback and seems faster than invidious. The rewrite is great too.
