It’s been a few years since I last shaved my beard. If I don’t get irritated skin after shaving should I still use an aftershave? If so, what do you recommend?

Personally I don't recommend after shave even if you get razer burn. I use shave balm, which helps heal the skin and protect against ingrown hairs after shaving, and rehydrates it. Nivea makes a good one

That’s actually the one I use as well!

So I’m not some expert but I would say it’s essential and I’ve been using that very one since I started shaving 20 years ago. I like to keep clean shaven so I shave every/every other day and I apply that after every shave.

It’s a good one because it’s relatively cheap and it contains no alcohol. Truly helps with irritation and any cuts or burns.

Not really, but sort of? So it is wise to use a mild antiseptic after you shave, even if you don't get irritated skin. Realistically if you're wallet isn't packed it can be one of the first things to go, easy.

I would say it’s vital especially for anyone who shaves regularly. But using aftershave with alcohol is almost worse than not using anything
