Teams from smaller leagues just have a hard time against the big teams. Which is understandable as playing matches against St Johnstone or PEC Zwolle is different from BVB or Juventus.
Liverpool are supposedly ideologically similar to Celtic. Bill Shankly, the club's most iconic figure, was a socialist and the Liverpoil area in general is a Labour stronghold because Thatcher tried to choke them out with here neoliberal austerity.
