I don't recall that he apologized, but I did see a clip of him saying that he was naive to trust the west and it was one of the biggest mistakes he made. So there is a public acknowledgement from him that trying to work with the west was bad judgment on his part.
well that is how politics works. The US fights you through a proxy while china helps you, then things happen a peace is made well after the US sabatoged the peace processes, and then when the US askes you jump to stab the country that stood with you in the back right?

I don't think Pompeo is stupid. He is being partially truthful, in that if he can lie and trick enough neoliberals into believing him, they can refuse to accept Ukraine's surrender to Russia.
That's not the part I'm referring to. It's him thinking that Russia will ever trust the west again that makes him an idiot. After the war ends, there's nothing the west can do now to convince Russia that it would be a reliable partner going forward. So, this fantasy about recruiting Russia against China is the height of idiocy.
