"Housing crisis", another artificial and unnecessary "crisis" created by capitalism and its property rights.
Regardless of politics, just math and common sense should dictate that if a country has x number of people, that country should secure enough living space for x number of people and fix the rent at some percentage of wages/salary.
Why don't capitalist governments just build and rent out apartments for some price fixed to the minimum wage? The cynic in me wants to say it's because most politicians are themselves or have friends in real estate, but there has to be more to the story... right?
It all boils down to compound interest. The exponential yields from compound interests has to come from somewhere.
People are using an average of 108% of minimum salary just in rent in cities like Madrid, similar in other cities in Spain.
I dont remember where but I heard this last week on the news.
