While it's regrettably true that a lot of socialists states could of been a lot better in regards to LGBTQ rights, a socialist state that emerged out of a population of agitated, miserable, exploited, undereducated, deprived people is still going to be more socially progressive then materially comparable non-socialist states. It's easy to be a paragon of moral progressive values when you exists within a privileged environment where exploitation is outsourced to invisible people far away.
