Elon Musk’s support for Donald Trump is set to boost X’s flagging business, with some marketers poised for a return to the social media platform in order to seek favor with the incoming administration.

Media executives told the Financial Times that some brands were preparing to advertise on X once again, as its billionaire owner was likely to gain an influential role within a second Trump White House.

Lou Paskalis, chief executive of marketing consultancy AJL Advisory and a former media executive at Bank of America, said some marketers are likely to reallocate spending back to X as “political leverage,” such as if they were seeking government contracts. He added companies would seek to get in the “good graces of Elon,” who has been given a wide remit by Trump as co-head of a new Department of Government Efficiency.

“It could be seen as an official channel for White House communications,” said another advertising agency chief, adding that Trump’s victory has lent Musk new legitimacy as well as power over brands in sectors that could face new regulatory curbs from Trump.

I for one am aghast that the corporate world is such cowards. It's almost like they don't operate on normal principals that a sane person would and rather only pursue the accumulation of capital above all mother concerns.

Not sure how reliable that is given the pretty much apocalyptic dead internet era we're living in specially now during the AI boom.

What exactly is twitter offering when everyone knows its full of bots already? When a significant amount of clout seekers often posting AI content too.

Twitter isn't dead, but the reason advertisers left in the first place isn't going to change overnight. Yes you can quote some random consultant's speculation but this is more than likely the usual political speculation libs love to do rather than meaningful analysis of the economic situation.

Its almost as if they're not talking about the US where lobbying is legal, if advertisers care so much then can pay congress for what they want already and if staying on twitter was profitable at all they would not have left. Its not clear why the speculation this will change overnight, it seems more like lib moral panic for me.
