Meta post I've decided to make. I enjoyed the unixporn subreddit a lot when I used reddit more. I enjoy customizing my linux de as much as the next nerd.
But you definitely shouldn't use racist slang to refer to the process.
To be clear, I didn't know the origin of the term 'ricing' until fairly recently. I was chattimg with my friend and used it to describe my de setup. They informed me that apparently it's from car customization, and is a pejorative against generally asian men who customize their car to look like a racecar.
After learning this I was sad to realize just how engrained it is in linux de customization culture. I personally have stopped using the term, and I would ask everyone here stop as well.
Take the L and go home. Or maybe form an actual response if you're capable. I'm not sure you are
This is my comm now. Go away.
Nah try again. Based on how few of you sub here I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't know how to use a terminal and thought all command line stuff makes people hackerman.
Gtfo
Incorrect, I am the type of hacker man that has accidentally formatted my hard drive by entering random commands I find posted on the internet... 7 times now.
Glad we established this isn't your community.
But it is.
@dessalines@lemmy.ml can you mod me for a sec. I bring you a dengiun as an offering.
You think asking for mod makes this your community? Oof
No I think being part of the lemmy community and fediverse makes this my community.
Imagine thinking being on lemmy makes you a member of every community on the platform. Guess that makes me a member of the hexbear community then eh comrade?
Watch out, better not let them find out the lib communities are yours as well 🤭
