I don't see him often but we met up a little while back. He went on a good 5-10 min long tirade about how Ronaldo is better than Messi. I tuned out for most of it but I remember him saying something like Garnacho is Argentinian but thinks Ronaldo is better which pisses Messi off. My dude no one gives a shit about all this.
Have you let him know that you’re not interested? He honestly just sounds passionate about football and likes talking about it with you since he thinks you care. Problem is that people tend to ramble on when they’re passionate about something, even to the detriment of their social awareness.
If he continues on after you tell him you’re not interested… then it’s on him and that’s completely understandable.
Also Messi is better.
I didn't tell him I didn't care because I didn't want to cause friction with someone I rarely see. Mao would have been disappointed.
The main problem I have with his passion is that he is obsessing over an unhealthy abstraction of the football industry as it is marketed to normal people by weirdos on social media. There is a lot to like about the game. I enjoy watching roided up skilled professionals duking it out on the world stage but this WWE-style interpretation of it where there is a good guy and bad guy and conceiving an imagined narrative around it is really stupid.
