“I don’t think he’s doing it for the money,” Sununu said

I actually agree. He's doing it for the power. The money is just a bonus

I have seen the take from conservatives that "the ultra-rich don't need anything directly from you, so they can't be corrupt!" which is either breathtaking naivety or just lying.

i think this is a rewarmed argument. they used to use it to explain why only landowners could vote and/or be elected.

The richest man in the world didn't become so via altruism and charity.

He has interests and those definitely conflict.

Him being too wealthy to have conflicts of interest suggests that he’s comfortable where he’s at financially, and isn’t trying to further enrich himself through government channels. But we’ve all seen how capitalism works and it has zero ceiling. It continues to amass wealth regardless of anything, and Musk is doing the same.

This strikes me as just another bootlicker yelling “pick me!” from the sidelines.

Thanks lmao. Never thought I’d own the domain enjoying.yachts and I’ve owned a ton of domains. I initially tried to get sinking.yachts but it’s taken. I also own guillotine.club but am still working on a use for it.

He has many private interests that are very directly affected by the government, the most egregious one being fucking spacex.
