I was looking through people's opinions on Star Wars books/comic books on Reddit. For comic books someone suggested the Darth Vader comics. I read through the first few chapters and it's just him being an idiot and manipulated by Palpatine, slaughtering his own troops and then committing atrocities on non-combatants. Does it get any better? He is gonna remain the bad guy until the end so I am not sure what the value is in reading this. Sounds like it's made for Star Wars wehraboos.

For books some people suggested the trilogy about Thrawn. I know nothing about him except he is a villain too so I am not optimistic about that either. Haven't started reading it yet.

Thrawn books are good. Rest of the pre Disney books are a shit show, at one point one author kills the mc to another series right before the finale. Also some of the books justify the death star/ Darth sideous which starts to get a bit weird (I loathe the yuuzan vong story line)

For comics: Darth Vader is the best one, has some panels which go hard (I am surrounded by fear and dead men). I also liked Tag and Bink (comedy series), and the crimson empire as a kid but idk how well they hold up.

Personally the games (Battlefront 2, Republic Commando, Jedi knight series, knights of the old Republic 1 & 2) were all more impactful than the books.

Which series is that? I used to be big into the star wars books and don't remember that one

I tried looking it back up, I think I'm half remembering Gilad/Callisto Ming/Mara Jade/the entire Denning v Traviss v Alliston drama

I don't know if it's still available these days, but Jedi Academy was the shit when I was a kid. I loved that game. Everything you mentioned was also fun, but special mention for the KOTOR series and the emotional moments they could evoke.
