AMAB and masc presenting.

I've gotten really into formal wear lately and am experimenting with how-far-is-too-far when tailoring one's slacks especially close. I'm loving the fit of my slacks where I have them now but I can notice the line of my cotton boxer-briefs even when they aren't bunched up. The loose cotton also has a tendency to roll/bunch when I put my leg down a pant so I'm definitely looking to buy a different solution soon, wondering which options might be best though.

you might wanna try seamless underwear, its exactly what you think it is. uniqlo makes a pair of boxer briefs for less than $20

If you're feeling spendy, these are easily the greatest underwear I've ever worn: https://allcitizens.com/collections/elite-ii-series/products/elite-ii-boxer-brief

The waistband doesn't roll over, the silicone grippies on the legs keep them from ever bunching up, they keep you cool and dry, and the ball pouch is really nice. This is a lot to spend on underwears tho. But they don't show any lines ever that I've noticed

My fucking christ, the little icon advertising their patented ball pouch is absurd, hah! I might grab one of these but holy shit you're not joking. $25 for one pair of trunks.

Yeah. They do get a little cheaper if you buy multiple at a time, but they are expensive as shit. I will say I've had mine for like 8 months are they still feel exactly the same as when new. And they're mad comfortable. And I think they make the "package" look pretty good while wearing them too, which is a nice little bonus.

That is something I'm to a degree concerned about. As I'm getting my clothes to fit better and tighter I'm wondering if there's a line between a sharp outfit and an obscene one. And especially wondering if anyone would warn me once I've crossed it.

Your experience has been that it makes things "apparent"? but I guess I'm drawing an imaginary line between David Bowie's codpiece as compared to an extra thick "vein" running partway down one's leg... Maybe the distinction I'm imagining is that a distinct but undetailed "volume" might be classier than metaphorical "poky nipples" down one leg.

Mostly I think they make it look good while wearing just the underwear. I don't think they make things too apparent while wearing clothes. I definitely think "volume" is classier than anything more distinct.

They make thongs for mascs. Jockey has some decent ones, they don’t show in tights so your trousers should be fine.
