My cayennes have been big for like a week and a half at least, but refuse to turn red. What gives? It's been hot, we've reduced watering them, but no ripening.
Same with the habaneros, but they've only been big for a few days.

You'll be waiting a couple months for these to ripen. Like 60 days I'm pretty sure.
I really feel like it didn't take this long last summer, but patience will have to do.
I'm not sure we have the growing season to grow hot peppers from seeds. And our apartment isn't really big enough to get them started well inside.
Peppers take an eternity to ripen. You can harvest them while they're still green if you want. They'll taste mostly the same, maybe a little bit less spicy.
