Go to gun store. Invite people over for party. Spend $750 on booze and snacks. Make tones of friends that have and know how to use guns. Save $50.
By this point you might have been priced out by other people thinking the same thing. Don't let gun shop owners talk you into going into debt for a panic buy that just so happens to be a $3k gun that's definitely the only thing left (until the next desperate person comes in).
A cheap shotgun for home defense is like $400.
If you are staying home that is all you'll ever need. No one fucks with a shotgun at close range.
