At this point, anyone who continues to offer wages that are outpaced by inflation need to be called out for what they're actually giving you: a pay cut.

It's brutally sad for everyone involved. The workers who are being fucked, the people who shop at Half Price, and the authors whose works are sold there. It's a bad deal for everyone involved when a company can't pay it's workers properly, and will result in a slow degradation of the quality of Half Price Books until it becomes a full on shell of it's former self and is sold to private equity who will squeeze out every last cent of value for themselves.

Cost is 21.52 per pizza, rounded up to 25 for accounting simplification. Pizza is understood and accepted by all employees as a fitting and acceptable substitution for health insurance, 401K contributions, and the state mandated 10 min break every 4h. Employees understand that pizza is an acceptable substitute for bonuses, raises, and career advancement.
