Sometimes when I'm all out of booze for the night, am super drunk, I put on random Zizek lectures or videos and just sorta zone out to it while going to sleep. Idk why, but it's something I end up doing often. It works too, cause it takes him like 20 minutes addressing unrelated things before he gets into the actual lecture. Like two nights ago I watched the Hegelian Wound lecture and slept like a baby

i don't seem to mind it too much, but im pretty weird and find the way he speaks quirky more than annoying. But he'll occasionally take too long to get to a point that i had already forgotten what it was about does annoy me. idk, i actually really like Zizek, maybe cause i didn't ever go to college so im not sick and tired of academics or "intellectuals" talking about crazy shit so much. He is just really funny to me, even if i don't understand what he means sometimes, he'll occasionally say something super profound to me that makes me laugh super hard

He's way more concise in his books. Imo he's not a very good public speaker and needs someone to reign him in, but he's really good at explaining complicated concepts when he's writing.

absolutely. did you ever watch the Jordan Peterson "debate" with him? That shit though, was so fucking funny. Like he got JP to agree with so much shit, and was able to deconstruct his stupid ass ignorant arguments almost every point raised. JP is a fucking idiot, like I knew he was before watching, but when faced with someone who actually knows a thing or two about communist theory and a broad range of philosophy. It was so worth having to listen to the whiny ass voice jordan peterson has

yeah the debate was so funny to me. for my life i can't believe why Jordan Peterson, a psychology teacher at a renowned instutiton, was completely unaware of anything authored by Zizek, the most prominent Lacanian right fucking now. But here we are

And like it's so silly, there'd obviously common ground somewhere, especially for a debate labeled "pursuit of happiness" or whatever. I know i'm probably stating the obvious, but I don't think Peterson is a very good psychology teacher lol

Nah you nailed it, I think JP is the type of person who did study all the requirements to get his degree, but as soon as he finished he never touched another book in the field. I'm sure he still reads but I don't think he reads anything relevant anymore. He strikes me as the type of person who found a sorta niche in his field and just never looked back or at criticisms. It did work out though, as much as the right calls out "liberal" academia, they froth at the mouth when they find someone in it who will validate their ideology.
