I've got a degree in physics and happened to take a very rigorous course on linear algebra early on. Tensors are two months of doing exercises blind until one day it clicks and it becomes obvious. The funny thing is that once I got it I realised that well over half of my professors who pretended to use tensors in their lectures—all very knowledgeable and experts in their fields—didn't actually understand the notation.

I flunked out in my first year. I think Tensors were material from the 2nd semester.
