    Probably a mix of both, thinking that whoever they're responding to agrees with them.

    /r/soccer tends to be pretty critical of the US, though.

        Most places that have another form of football use the term pretty often, too.

            The British coined the term soccer (and many still use it), as it's short for "Association Football"
