Seriously though what can I do as a tax-paying citizen about this besides leaving a ton of strongly worded bilingual comments on here: https://www.international.gc.ca/global-affairs-affaires-mondiales/corporate-ministere/contact-contactez/form-formulaire.aspx?lang=eng

Things you can do, as a lib:

You can file an e-petition with the House (if they're successful, these usually get press, and the petition has to be presented on the floor) or get some friends and repeatedly contact your MP.

Its usually pretty easy to get an MP's attention, they're pretty accessible through twitter (I don't think theyre legally allowed to block someone fron their riding) and they often don't have too many office staff. Depending on what riding you're in, you may actually get to speak to your MP and give them an earful yourself.

Everything about this is such bullshit.

Apparently the Venezuelan opposition boycotted the elections and Canada called the elections undemocratic before they even happened. Apparently the elections need independent observers to be truly democratic, but oops the EU rejected sending any observers so the main observers are from Ecuador and Bolivia, which are apparently too biased even though Ecuador is in the Lima Group and Bolivia has expressed interest in joining. And now there's gonna be a referendum from the opposition about rejecting the election results, which Canada will most likely ignore if the results don't say "Maduro bad".

It's only democratic if we agree with the outcome, otherwise the people are brainswashed.
