The threats of terrorism and Russian, Iranian, Chinese or Korean aggression are all real, but terrorists and these countries are not certain to attack the US. Arms control and diplomacy can deescalate tensions and reduce threats. Economic sanctions can also diminish the capacity of states and non-state actors to threaten the security interests of the US and its allies.
They spend the whole paper outling the incredible levels of US military pollution, while simultaneously defending it with fantastical chauvinist arguments. A truly insane juxtaposition.
Don't assume the readers/hearers of the propaganda all believe it. The military must maintain recruitment numbers and they'll spend a lot of money to do so. So we'll hear a lot about how great they are. The DOD even spends a lot of time and money providing props and such for Hollywood movies. They even help edit the scripts to ensure the US military isn't put in a bad light.
It's not that the brainrot runs deep. It's more that the propaganda does. Don't blame the people for the stuff they didn't consent to.
On one hand yeah, USians are the most propagandized people on Earth. But on the other hand, they're not that dumb. Recruitment rates are falling for a reason, everyone knows what the military is really for and what it's doing abroad. The people that enlist are generally those who come from military families or who want the benefits.
Sorry if I don't sympathize with those who are ok with subjugating/murdering other people for their career. Or to make Dad proud or whatever
American here. A big reason as well is the military can't even successfully bribe people anymore. It's pretty widely understood, even among the dumbest and most indoctrinated here, that the US military leaves its veterans in the dust.
