There is nothing uglier to my eyes than a well-manicured lawn. It's the death of a biosphere, usually maintained with weekly burning of gasoline.
What's insane to me is there are native cultivars like buffalo grass that are highly adapted to our climate and stay short and have 90% less water consumption and therefore sustained by rain, no need for fertilizer, and only needs to be mowed once a month, yet so many people are FUCKING INSANE and refuse to use it because it's a slightly different shade of green
