I was on a local waiting list for 18+ months. Just got it 2 weeks ago. Haven't even unboxed it yet. Whole thing was like $150CAD, my plans for it now? PiHole to replace my very dying notebook from 2014. Like neat I can plug some HDMIs and a bunch of USBs and shit..... unno would be nice for like a central controller in my home lab dreams but now? Fuck.

Really sucks that all the rpi alternatives have such shit support, otherwise id be all over them

Yeah, I've got a orange pi 4 (I think? 🤔) that just refuses to get on my wifi. Even after running updates and everything. Which is a shame because it seems decent enough.

I like Pis, but there's so many cheaper alternatives in used thin clients nowadays, that they only really make sense for me if I have a project that needs the gpio header.

Exactly. I've been using chrome boxes, myself. And while the 19 volt power adapters aren't as convenient as usb, these newer Pis require so much amperage that the difference is negligible if I can't just plug it into any randomly available USB anyway.

Yeah, if you're gonna buy one, you might as well get the kit that comes with the power adapter. so tack another $30 or so onto the price.

Neat, I was actually looking to get one to use as a server for my ttrpg stuff.
