What?? You are telling me Stalin executed Nazis instead of giving them jobs in the administration? And that was during wartime? No wonder the USSR were the bad guys...

The death penalty for capital crimes was reinstated for peacetime in 1950 under Stalin. It was for treason, espionage, terrorism, first degree murder, and “economic crimes” (corruption, fraud by officials, bribery, and smuggling).
It was extended to aggravated murder or murder with aggravating circumstances in 1954, that’s the only thing that happened in 1954.
