“Leave no trace” when the entire 1 week event has a carbon footprint of 100,000 tons, which is equivalent to 22,000 cars driving 10,000 miles each in a year, or roughly the CO2 output of many small cities in a year.
That’s not even including transportation, airfare, and the cost of the good they’re consuming.

The ruling class also gets off to misery tourism in rather direct ways, such as visiting an impoverished area (under very heavy guard), soaking in the "I am so glad this isn't me" arrogance they feel from being there, then leaving a short time later.
