For the life of me, I will never get why a country that produced Chopin, Wieniawski, Iron Felix, etc., feels the need to lick the boots of the United States -- a complete cultural wasteland -- in the way it does.
Because after we dumped entire socialist culture we were basically left with a XIX century church-nationalist frenzy compared to which even the US cultural wasteland looked attractive. Also it's not like we had any alternative, entire nation was fed foie-gras style americanization by the media.
