The WA Greens have revived the debate over Perth’s sprawl, joining with developers, planners and universities to call for a rethink of the city’s urban planning.
There are issues with this article. "Longest city in the world"? Given that it's basically suburbia all the way from LA to San Diego, I'm having a hard time accepting that one. I don't know how long that California megalopolis thingy is in total, but it's a lot longer than Perth-Bunbury.
Mr Pettitt is right. Planting trees is good. Building on the fringes of Perth is not ideal.
Mr Carey is right. Housing supply should be the most important priority for the Planning minister. Also, this government has invested a fortune on public transport infrastructure. They should be recognised more for it.
The positions of these guys are mostly compatible. It'd be nice to see them working together more and chasing sound bytes less. I hate how politicians always want to sit in their own camps and point fingers at each other, winning points in some imaginary game that only they care about.
