Like isn't that kinds weird? A boat for trains. Like a boat-train synthesis. We only really need two kinds of transportation: trains and boats. Airplanes are just air boats.

    I think there aren’t too many active rail ferries left in the US anymore. There’s one near NYC I think.

    There’s a fair amount of visible infrastructure remaining from shipping rail cars across the Great Lakes. There are actually some rail cars at the bottom of Lake Michigan that were lost in heavy storms.

    Rail cars were being shipped across the straits of Mackinac into the early 80s I believe.

    There are a few crossings in the Nordic region I believe where they float rail cars including passenger trains.

      I came across the idea through a mention of this. If you go over the list in the wiki article you'll encounter most of the entries under "former" so it's a rare thing these days. Sweden still has two though.
