    i feel like i have a decent grasp on monism (and align with it), i just haven't read the guy himself. i can't imagine how revolutionary his pantheist ideas must have been at the time

      I don't really think it's pantheism, but I could be mistaken. What's fascinating about Spinoza is he was Jewish but belonged to a Jewish sect that was completely removed from traditional Jewish culture which I imagine helped him a lot in coming up with his unique view. If I had a time machine, spinoza would be the lad I go see.

        yeah i remember reading that somewhere. thanks for piquing my interest, i may dig a bit deeper into him once my reading list clears up.
