It's also not undue to speculate that the strong abolitionist movement in Britain at the time that led to the fact Britain would ban the slave trade was a concern on some level to a colony that made its money off of slavery. infact there is some evidence that the relative popularity of abolition was a factor in the American desire to break from Britain
