Hey everyone! Wanted to put up a quick thread announcing that our February book will be Women, Race, and Class by Angela Y. Davis. If you missed our January book thread about Feminism for the 99% feel free to hop over and join the discussion. :D
I'm not sure if it makes sense to keep doing announcement threads, but this comm is pretty empty so why not haha. Anyway, if anybody is interested in leading the book discussion for February (particularly a Black woman or enby!), I'll be happy to pass it over. If not, I'll make another post on Saturday the 27th of February.
I'm only a chapter in, but I'm enjoying it a lot too. Or well, not enjoying as it's a grim subject, but definitely finding it thought provoking.
I’m not very good at fully explaining my thoughts
I feel like I get what you mean though! Even in the first chapter when Davis talks about Black enslaved women, she doesn't dismiss white bourgeois women's desire to escape housework as frivolous or anything. Just bluntly pointing out the difference.
I hope you join us in discussing the whole book on the 27th :) I'm interested in hearing your thoughts in more detail!
Just read the book by 27th February :) I'll post a new thread that morning where everybody can post their thoughts and discuss
