I used to use a nexus 6p with a PureNexus rom but I don't actually know how private it was. I still had Play Store on there, so, probably not very private. If I ever get a career I will probably buy a bootloader unlocked pixel and not install Play Store. Anyone do this and miss Google Maps, etc?
Anyone use Pine Phone or plan on it? Is it a chore? Anyone know about the fairness of their hardware procurement (sweatshops etc)?
At this stage a phone with hardware switches is necessary, right?
Obviously, there's levels to the privacy game, and for the price, the pinephone is great. The ethos of the makers is good too. The hardware switches are tiny and under the back cover, which sounds like a pain. The librem looks good but too expensive and seems pushed to market too early.
It all depends on how committed you are to privacy, how much hassle you're willing to endure.
What we need is a device that auto randomizes it's wifi mac address and wardrives local wifi networks, only connecting to cell networks when absolutely necessary. Calls via voip only. It's possible, surely.
