Not that it will likely be a ton of use, but have you talked to the cops?

Yes, I've filed a report. I have low expectations from them though. Tbh I wanted to know if anybody here had any experience uncovering a private number, maybe through a phone app or something.

Have they had you use call trace (*57)? What's your carrier?

EDIT: actually I guess call trace might only be for landlines. Call your cell phone provider and ask about call traps and call trace anyways.

You would have to get your hands on a number, which I think only your phone company could do. The cops should be able to get it but you might be able to find a private investigator who knows who to grease at the phone company to get that info.

i dialed *57 immediately after, and have let the authorities know the exact time. but they haven't reached back to me yet with an update. My carrier is exclusive to the area I live so I don't want to say what it is here.

You could trace the number through Spokeo or Truth Finder. I believe it costs money through both services.

Any idea who they are or what they want? What are they trying to achieve? Do they actually know where you work or is that just an empty claim?

How old do they sound? Might it be a teenager just doing it for the lulz?

Any idea why you would be getting this unwanted attention?

That's the weird thing. I haven't made that info public anywhere. They must have a connection to my social circle somehow, maybe through hacking?

Any idea why they might be targeting you? Do you have any information on who it is at all? Age, gender, likely area they're from, accent, speech pattern, odd or specific slang, where they might have gotten your number, literally an personal details they might have let slip. If they know where you work have you posted that any where online? If so where?

If you message me as much info as you can I can try to do some digging. Not promising anything but I do have some relevant skills and experience.

Also if you haven't already set your phone to auto record all calls, it may make the police take you more seriously and dissecting their speech can lead to a lot of information. You can also try contacting your cell provider, in the case of death threats they maybe able to help you uncover the number.

Strength in numbers maybe. If you've got a friend or family member you trust, maybe let them know and spend a bit more time hanging out with them. Hell, maybe even a coworker who gets off work at the same time you do. I've never dealt with this but if an authority isn't taking it seriously (surprise) that would be the second place I look.
