It really isn't. Games last for three to four hours, but the commercials can make it boring af. However, the strategy is so compacted and complex from an individual player and coaching level you can spend an entire day breaking down an entire game, play-by-play, position-by-position. There really is nothing else like it.
Compare this to baseball, which is incredibly simplistic even when it comes to it's complex strategies. World football is not as simplistic, strategy wise, but I find it to be boring compared to similar sports such as hockey, basketball, or (my personal favorite) hurling, simply because of how low scoring it is and how large the field is. If you want my real preference though, it's rugby everytime.
Football is not dumb, it's really difficult to play. It is simply run by capitalist idiots and fine with incredible brutality.
