It’s Jan 2025. Left twitter took the oath of office yesterday. Medicare For All has been in place for almost a day. The imperial wars ended this morning. Carbon emissions are zero. Cancel culture is law. A group of men, women and non-binary folks wearing red rose armbands leads me to the guillotine.
I’m crying and shaking. I keep stumbling in my chains, but the armbanded persons hold me upright. Finally we get to the platform. Two cis-men in black hoodies and black bandanas force me down onto the bench. Another fixes the pillory around my neck. The crowd makes jazz hands and chants: “Canceled! Canceled! Canceled!”
From up here I can see out pretty far. Through the tears I can see the long line of employers, rich people, soldiers, ICE agents, police, HR reps, lobbyists, intelligence agents, op-ed writers, petroleum engineers, landlords, defense contractors, corporate attorneys... all going right after me. I smile. Chop.
