NIMBYs are people who oppose necessary and beneficial stuff they think will reduce land value close to their house, such as safe injection sites and affordable housing, not people who just don't want their damn home to be bulldozed, upending their entire life for a meager restitution because some bid developer wants to make a highway or fancy skyscrapers or whatever.
