They posed it as an alternative to armed struggle. My guess is that if you're in armed struggle, you're not exactly going to work, and if you are going to work, it's probably to make shit for the armed struggle.
General strike is relatively (aside from food/eviction) risk free, as compared to paragliding into commando centers, or going against tanks without rpgs. And 2 million arab israelis can cause a lot of economic damage, if they can make inroads there.
I think they saying they are past them as in they don't work so fuck that shit.
I think we have passed the stage of general strikes in Israel. Of course, I do not want to deny the importance of strikes and their effectiveness, but the situation here in Palestine and experience has proven that the only solution is struggle and even armed struggle against the apartheid regime.
