Such unwarranted hatred of Christians!! It's not like Christianity has a history of being used as a tool of colonialism or anything, right??

I would pin that more on the fault of the Church rather then the individual Christians. Historically the Catholic Church and Papacy. They were basically an Empire in their own right.

Definitely historically the biggest offender, but even though it's compelling to absolve others, it's simply not true, even smaller denominations can do much evil, like the US evengelicans, and not to mention crazy heterodox cults which seems all to be more or less anchored in christianity. And i'm not even talking solely about the west, remember the South Vietnam or the Taiping Rebellion.

Of course, though some of those things like evangelicals would probably happen with or without the church. It just gives those people a good excuse. But the Taiping Rebellion wasn't really Christian based, as Hong Xiuquan with simply just extremely mentally ill and delusional.

It was still based on christianity. While he was certainly mentally unwell, we can't be sure if it would play the same without christianity, if he was inspired by something else, he could go in entire other way.
