/c/food is basically /c/veganfood at this point, and is all but being moderated as such with meat posts requiring NSFW tags* and pinned threads pushing veganism. /c/omnivore (or something along those lines) would be an explicitly non-vegan food community so there just doesn't have to be interaction between vegans and non-vegans wrt food posts.

* Despite members of the community expressing multiple times that we didn't want that. And the thread announcing it was locked immediately.

Sorry this borders on /c/strugglesession, but this is still the right comm for this. We shouldn't struggle session about the merits of veganism here; just discuss whether there should be an explicitly omnivore community.

what would an explicit omni comm achieve though? do we have users that want to post like, raw steaks but feel they need a different space for it? someone shared some BBQ the other day and simply tagged it and the comment section was good and wasn't about veganism

Like I said, not hiding non-vegan posts behind a NSFW tag, not having a mod team pushing veganism. Also having a higher concentration of non-vegan posts in one place rather than dispersed within a vegan skewed community. And encouraging people to post non-vegan food unlike /c/food which currently discourages it:

Please nfsw tag image posts containing animal products, and try to post vegan recipies.

/c/vegan exists, why does every food-related community have to be implicitly vegan?

Yeah, what I really think it should be is /c/food being explicitly omni and vegans can just stay in /c/vegan. But since /c/food is modded by vegans I doubt that's going to happen.

Yes, purging people who care about animal cruelty is definitely not-reactionary

Damn that's like the third time you've responded only to tell me to shut the fuck up in this thread, are you a professional reply guy or just on the side?

My bbq really did turn out pretty amazing. I think I was only called a murderer once indirectly.
